B-C girls top Brownsville; Lady Colonials earn first win Samantha Slagle scored 17 points, including an 8-of-11 showing from the foul line and a 3-pointer, as Beth-Center downed Brownsville 53-48 in a Section 5-AA girls basketball game on Monday.

The Lady Bulldogs’ Tammy Pendland and Breanne Paletta each added 13 points.

“We just got out-hustled tonight by the other team,” said Brownsville coach Greg Golembiewski. “We missed 16 lay-ups in the fourth quarter.”

Senior Amanda Mitchell had the hot hand for Brownsville with a game-high 19 points.

“Amanda is doing a good job for me right now,” Golembiewski said.

The Lady Falcons visit Washington on Thursday, while the Lady bulldogs host South Side Beaver on Thursday. Both games are at 7:30 p.m.

Albert Gallatin 35, Peters Township 34 – Samantha Kline, Deanna Rivera and Megan Barrett scored six points a piece as Albert Gallatin picked up a Section 2-AAAA victory over Peters Township on the road.

The Lady Indians’ Leigh Sherratt scored a game-high 16 points, including 6-of-7 from the foul line.

Albert Gallatin built a 31-21 lead after three periods, then hung on from there.

The Lady Colonials (1-5, 1-0) host Uniontown on Friday night at 6 p.m.

Ringgold 44, Connellsville 40 – Tonya Lewis scored 14 points and Ashley Campbell added 11 as Ringgold edged past Connellsville in a Section 2-AAAA match-up.

Rachel Means was the only Lady Falcon to score in double-digits with 11 points, including two 3-pointers.

Ashley Benzio picked up her fourth foul early in the fourth quarter and point guard Shannon Kovach had three fouls at halftime and was forced to sit out much of the third quarter.

Connellsville visits Canon-McMillan on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

Avella 49, Jefferson-Morgan 30 – Avella outscored Jefferson-Morgan 17-6 in the first quarter and never looked back as they downed visiting J-M in a Section 2-A clash.

Charity McCann led the Lady Rockets with 11 points.

Jefferson-Morgan scored on 14 field goals and shot 5-of-8 from the foul line.

The winless Lady Rockets (0-1, 0-5) host Monessen on Wednesday and California on Friday. Both games are at 7:30 p.m.

Waynesburg Central 70, Yough 41 – Cigi Wright lit up the scoreboard with 21 points, including 5-of-7 from the foul line as Waynesburg Central cruised to an easy Section 3-AAA victory over Yough.

Teammate Autumn Minor also landed double-digits with 12 points on six field goals.

Waynesburg jumped out to an early 17-7 lead and finished strong outscoring Yough 21-11 in the final period.

Jennie Cochenour led Yough with 17 points, including three 3-pointers.

The Lady Raiders (5-1, 1-0) head to the road for two straight games against Derry on Dec. 11 and Mount Pleasant on Dec. 15.

The Lady Cougars host Belle Vernon on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
