Schumacher leads Waynesburg past Belle Vernon P.J. Schumacher lit up the scoreboard with a game-high 31 points, including eight 3-pointers as Waynesburg defeated host Belle Vernon 64-58 in Section 3-AAA Tuesday night.
There were 20 three-pointers scored in the game, 12 for Waynesburg Central and eight for Belle Vernon.
Bill Becker was also in double figures for Waynesburg with 14 points, including two 3-point goals.
After a 16-14 Waynesburg second quarter, the Raiders erupted for 25 points in the third and held the Leopards to just seven fourth quarter points to seal the victory.
Sophomore Matt Rowland was the high scorer for B-V with 18 points, while Steven King and Matt Cyktor added 15 and 10, respectively.
Waynesburg hosts Brownsville on Friday. The winner will qualify for the playoffs, while Belle Vernon travels to Uniontown on Friday to wrap up the season.
Ringgold 52, Albert Gallatin 43 – Albert Gallatin pulled to within four points with 3:00 left in regulation, but Ringgold outlasted the visiting Colonials in a Section 2-AAAA matchup.
Jesse Hyatt led the Rams with 16 points, while teammates Ryan Bowker and Troy Yonkers scored 15 and 12 points.
Chris Moore was the high scorer for AG with 16 points, including two 3-pointers.
The Colonials will finish the regular season at home against Laurel Highlands on Friday.
Jefferson-Morgan 87, West Greene 44 – A trio of Jefferson-Morgan players scored in double figures as they cruised to an easy Section 2-A win over visiting West Greene (2-9, 5-17).
Jimmy Basilone led the way with 21 points, including three 3-pointers, while Vince Kraft and Matt Ferencak added 17 and 12 points.
Keith Ross and Justin Allen combined for 24 points to lead West Greene.
Jefferson-Morgan (2-9, 5-17) will wrap up its season on the road Friday against Carmichaels.
Fort Hill (MD) 65, Mapletown 56 – Neil Gilmore led Fort Hill with 18 points as they defeated Mapletown in a non-section contest.
Joe Fradiska scored 16 points and Andre Pope rounded out the double figure scorers for Fort Hill.
Andy Erjavek led the Maples (13-9) with 16 points, while Andy Latusek and Joe Kovach added 15 and 12 points.
Mapletown will finish its season on the road Friday against West Greene.
Turkeyfoot Valley 76, Shankesville 52 – Turkeyfoot Valley came out firing as the Rams outscored Shankesville 16-6 in the first quarter and continued to roll for the West Pac win.
Bob Lager and Brett Clevenger both scored 17 points for the Rams, while Seth Tressler and Nathaniel Bower added 12 and 10, respectively.
Lager also pulled down 17 rebounds and posted three assists, while Clevenger added four rebounds and five assists.
Matt Long was the high scorer for Shankesville with 11 points.
Turkeyfoot Valley returns to action Thursday at home against Hyndman.
Girls basketball
South Side Beaver 50, Beth-Center 39 – Allison Clark led with a game-high 28 points as South Side Beaver rolled to an easy Section 5-AA win over host Beth-Center (6-16, 3-10).
Lauren Linn also scored in double digits for the Lady Rams with 11 points, including three 3-pointers.
Samantha Slagle had the hot hand for B-C with 17 points.
The Lady Bulldogs will finish their season at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at home against Bentworth.
West Greene 44, Frazier 25 – Glenda Adamson scored 21 points, including two 3-point goals and Rachel Phillips added 19 points as West Greene defeated Frazier in a Section 2-A match-up.
Frazier led by four at the end of the first half, and then West Greene went on a 17-6 run in the second quarter and continued to breeze past the Lady Commodores.
Brooke Carson was the high scorer for Frazier with six points.
Frazier hosts Carmichaels today and will finish the season on Friday on the road against Avella.
