Allen carries Monessen to victory Charel Allen managed to outscore her hosts Wednesday night, pouring in 25 points in the Lady Greyhounds’ 47-23 non-section victory at Jefferson-Morgan.

Monessen led 11-3 after the first quarter, then steadily pulled away by adding five points in the second quarter and 16 more after the third quarter. The Lady Rockets outscored Monessen, 11-6 in the fourth quarter.

Shanna Yourchik led Jefferson-Morgan (4-17) with 12 points.

Carmichaels 35, Frazier 21 – The Lady Mikes scored 24 points in the middle quarters to secure a non-section road victory. The Lady Commodores hung tough, trailing 5-4 after the first quarter, but Carmichaels put the game away with 12 points in both the second and third quarters while the defense allowed only five.

Autumn Willis led the Lady Mikes (19-2, 13-0) with 11 points. Janelle Shaffer was the top scorer for Frazier (6-17, 6-7) with seven points.

Carmichaels closes the season at Jefferson-Morgan as the first part of a girl-boy doubleheader at 6 p.m.

Men’s basketball

Waynesburg 104, Lancaster Bible College 60 – Uniontown’s Ray Robinson passed Kevin Bealko for third place on the Yellow Jackets’ all-time scoring leader list with 1,907 points after scoring a game-high 26 points to lead Waynesburg to a non-conference home victory.

Waynesburg (12-6) scored nearly all the points it would need in the first half, leading 54-32 at the halftime break.

Jake Marcoux and Aaron Ankrom both scored 13 points with Marcoux grabbing a team-high 10 rebounds. Mike Pamepinto and Ray Gillespie scored 11 apiece with David Quay adding 10. Beau Henderson dished out a career-high 15 assists.

Chad Kuhne scored a team-high 20 points for Lancaster Bible College.

Clarion 74, Edinboro 49 – Terrance Vaughns scored 12 points, grabbed five rebounds, dished out two assists and had four steals to help the Golden Eagles to a PSAC-West home victory. Clarion improves to 5-1 in the conference and 16-5 overall.

Women’s basketball

Geneva 57, Notre Dame College 54 – Jen Rawding scored 22 points Tuesday to lead Geneva to an American Mideast Conference victory.

Laurel Highlands graduate Sabrina Adams scored three points with four rebounds and three steals.

Men’s wrestling

Washington & Jefferson 27, Waynesburg 6 – The Yellow Jackets managed only a pair of decisions from the visiting Presidents for a Presidents’ Athletic Conference loss.

Mike Olem won a 6-4 decision over Steve Schlauch at 125 pounds and Jaime Pradera scored an 8-3 win over Nathan Jones at 184 pounds. Waynesburg was forced to forfeit three bouts.

Waynesburg falls to 0-2 in the conference and 1-11 overall. Washington & Jefferson improves to 2-0 in conference action and 7-6 overall.
