Yellow Jackets ousted from PAC playoffs

Jake Marcoux had a career game under the boards, but visiting Bethany (W.Va.) wouldn’t relent on the scoreboard Tuesday at the Bison defeated Waynesburg, 82-74, in the first round of the Presidents’ Athletic Conference playoffs. Waynesburg closes the season with a record of 16-9. Bethany (11-14) advances to play at Thiel on Thursday.

Bethany led 40-39 at halftime, and extended its lead with a 42-35 second half.

Marcoux finished with 21 rebounds, including 13 on the defensive board, and tied Ray Robinson for team honors in scoring with 17 points. Mike Pamepinto scored 16 and Mike King added 10 for the Yellow Jackets.

Mike Majzun scored a game-high 28 points for the Bison to lead four players in double figures. Matt Drahos finished with 16 points and 13 rebounds while Derek Hoffman also had a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Jacob Dailer added 17 points to the winning effort.
