Holt’s home run clinches win for Carmichaels Carmichaels began a busy stretch of five games in four days with a 6-2 come-from-behind road victory Thursday at Redstone in Fayette County Baseball League action.
Four straight singles, including run-scoring swats by Jim Cales and Scooter Roebuck, spotted Ed Sumego to a 2-0 lead. Sumego kept the Carmichaels hitters at bay with a no-hitter through five innings, though he allowed an unearned run in the top of the fourth inning.
The Carmichaels bats finally broke through in the top of the seventh inning. Ron Nopwasky gave winning pitcher the lead on an RBI-single and Eric Holt capped the rally with a two-run home run.
Roebuck and Ken Musko had two singles each for Redstone.
Carmichaels (15-7-2) hosts Mario’s tonight at 6 p.m. and plays a home doubleheader Saturday, against Redstone (4-23) at 1 p.m. and Connellsville at 4 p.m.
