Lady Vulcans in state title game today
The California women’s basketball team advanced to the PSAC Championship game for the second straight year as it came back to defeat Millersville 75-59 in the PSAC semifinals at West Chester. Cal overcame a first half deficit of one point to outscore Millersville 45-28 in the second half.
The Vulcans will play West Chester in the championship game as the Lady Rams defeated IUP, 67-64.
The win marks California’s 28th of the season against one loss.
The Vulcans had four players in double figures, led by Sara McKinney with 18, Lisa Gottuso with 17, Becky Siembak with 16 and Megan Storck with 10.
Siembak led Cal with seven rebounds.
Gema Robles paced all scorers for West Chester with 21 points.
The winner of today’s championship game will get an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament next weekend.
California is currently first in the region and second in the nation.
Last year, the Vulcans won the championship game with a win over Millersville 63-60.
