ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) – The Oakland Raiders signed free agent running back Amos Zereoue on Thursday. Zereoue, who played five seasons with Pittsburgh, should get a chance to play with the Raiders, who need to replace departed free agent Charlie Garner. Zereoue will compete with Tyrone Wheatley and Justin Fargas for playing time.

Zereoue was second on the Steelers in rushing with 432 yards last season. He also had 38 catches for 291 yards. Zereoue’s best season was 2002 when he had a team-high 762 yards rushing, along with 42 catches for 341 yards.

A third-round draft pick from West Virginia in 1999, Zereoue has rushed for 1,697 yards with seven touchdowns in his career. He also has 95 receptions for 803 yards and one TD in 66 games.
