Blackburn recovering from spinal injury

By The 1 min read

Connellsville sophomore Steve Blackburn continues to recover from a spinal cord injury suffered in a junior varsity football game last Saturday. Blackburn suffered a spinal concussion, similar to the injury suffered by Steelers quarterback Tommy Maddox a few seasons ago in Tennessee.

“He’s at Children’s Hospital,” Falcons varsity coach Andy Robertson said.

“The injury happened Saturday, but symptoms didn’t show up until a couple hours after game.”

Blackburn was transported to Children’s in a medical helicopter.

Robertson visited with Blackburn, a fullback and linebacker for the Falcons, this past week.

“He’s in good spirits when he’s feeling good and he has all of his feeling and everything,” Robertson said.
