Yellow Jackets blast Manchester; Bagwell sparks Vulcans NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. (AP) – Unbeaten Waynesburg scored 35 unanswered points in the first quarter and never looked back as it dominated winless Manchester for a 73-14 victory on Saturday.

Two Waynesburg (3-0) players rushed for more than 100 yards as the Yellow Jackets piled up 304 yards on the ground on 47 carries.

Ryan Abels rushed eight times for 144 yards and two touchdowns, and Calvin Lee carried 23 times for 127 yards and three scores. Dennis Gearhart added two rushing touchdowns.

Waynesburg led 42-7 at intermission and came out strong in the second half, scoring 21 points in the third quarter including an 80-yard interception return by Travis Chropka.

The Yellow Jackets also scored on fumble and interception returns in the first quarter.

California, Pa. 40, West Virginia Wesleyan 33 – California University of Pa. jumped out to a 31-7 lead early in the third quarter, but then had to hang on to defeat visiting West Virginia Wesleyan (2-1).

The Vulcans’ Antoine Bagwell tore through the Wesleyan defense for 242 yards and three touchdowns as Cal improved to 2-0.

Joe Ruggiero completed 10 of 24 passes for 182 yards, including five to Claude Whitaker for 111 yards.

Wesleyan quarterback Marc Kimes connected on 19 of 40 throws for 337 yards and four touchdowns, but he was intercepted four times and sacked three times.

One of the interceptions was returned 25 yards for a touchdown by Lloyd Price in the third quarter to put the Vulcans up 37-14. Gary Amos kicked two field goals for Cal.
