Auto racing Henry wins fourth

Bobby Henry started seventh and passed defending champion Rick Miller with only three laps to go to win his fourth Napa NASCAR Super Late Model feature of the year Friday at Motordrome Speedway.

Gary Scott (Smail Pontiac-GMC Modifieds), Frank Turek (Subway Street Stocks) and Richie Miller (Advance Auto Parts American Flyers) were also repeat winners, while Duane Noel won his first career Motordrome feature in the Yellow Book Charger division.

Five divisions of NASCAR Dodge Weekly Racing will be presented July 8. In addition to the Napa Late Models, Smail Pontiac GMC Modifieds, Subway Street Stocks, Yellow Book Chargers and the Advance Auto Parts American Flyers offering a regular racing program, the night’s action will be preceded by Spectator Drag Racing on the front straightaway.

Comets top Sting

HOUSTON (AP) – Sheryl Swoopes scored 16 points and the Houston Comets beat the slumping Charlotte Sting 75-65 Saturday for their fourth straight win.

Dominique Canty had 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting, Janeth Arcain added 12 and Michelle Snow had 11 for Houston (8-5).

Swoopes, selected to the All-Star team, made 6-of-11 shots and had five assists.

Tangela Smith scored 19 points and Alison Feaster added 17, the only players in double figures for the last-place Sting (2-12). Feaster made 5-of-6 3-pointers for Charlotte, which fell to 0-6 on the road and 1-7 all-time in Houston.

After losing a season-high four straight, the Comets have won two against San Antonio and one against Seattle, the defending WNBA champions.
