Redd Dawgs win

2 min read

Timely hitting by Brian Horner and an overpowering effort by winning pitcher Tim Latham proved to be the difference Friday night in the Redd Dawg’s 5-2 win over visiting Bud Murphy’s in Fayette County Baseball League action. The Redd Dawgs improve to 11-13-1 with the team’s fifth win in a row. Bud Murphy’s goes to 19-3 with the loss.

The Redd Dawgs opened a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning, but the visitors scored a pair of unearned runs in the top of the third on Ryan Miscik’s two-run single.

The home team regained the lead when Matt Trigona and Ryan Shetterly both singled with one out and moved up on a wild pitch. Both runners scored on Brian Horner’s single.

The Redd Dawgs added a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Tim Latham (2-2) threw only 65 pitches over seven innings for the win, walking two and allowing three hits. Shetterly, Ryan Russell and Trevor Consavage all doubled for the winners.

Brian Sankovich had the lone extra base hit for Bud Murphy’s with a double.
