Weeses win bass tournament
Terry and Brad Weese were the final team to weigh in, but it was worth the wait because the duo bagged 16.52 pounds of bass to take top honors out of 27 teams in the 2005 Maryland-West division of the Fishers of Men National Tournament Trail on July 16 on the Youghiogheny Reservoir. The pair also landed the second biggest bass of the day at 3.77 pounds.
Shawn Skobel and Gary Crayton placed second with 12.06 pounds of fish with third place going to SFVU Pro-Staff member Marlon Whoolery and Jay Barber. The team of J.D. Shearer and John Mongelluzzo landed the tournament’s biggest bass of the day, a 3.78-pound smallmouth.
The Weeses wrapped up the 2005 Points Championship for Maryland-West and were the only team to manage a 5-fish limit in each of the circuit’s events with their 25 fish at just under 50 pounds to earn the pair over $3,700. The father-son team also received an invitation to The Fishers of Men Tournament Trail’s National Championship to be held Feb. 7-11, 2006.
The 2006 schedule for the Md.-West/W.Va.-North division will be: Raystown Lake (April 1), Mount Storm (April 29), Cheat Lake (May 20), Youghiogheny Reservoir (June 17) and Deep Creek Lake-RQT (July 22).
