Schrader pitches Carmichaels to County League win Justin Schrader had a no-hitter going through the first six innings and fanned six batters en route to a 2-1 Carmichaels victory over Redd Dawgs in Fayette County League action Thursday.

Schrader ended up with a two-hitter and allowed only two walks.

Carmichaels picked up single runs in the first and seventh innings and the Redd Dawgs scored its lone run in the bottom of the sixth.

In the first, Rick Smykla walked and advanced to second on a Brad Baker single.

Charlie Humes stepped up to the plate, singled and drove in Smykla.

Tied at one run apiece and with two outs in the top of the seventh, Craig Santella singled and advanced to second.

Chris Buncic singled and moved Santella to third and Smykla singled in Santella for the game-winner.

Chris Brunson came on in relief and worked the final two innings. He struck out one and went home with the loss.

Carmichaels (3-0) hosts Mario’s Sunday at 5 p.m. and host Bud Murphy’s Monday in a makeup game.

Brownsville 2, Mill Run 1 – Jim Cales drove in both Brownsville runs, including the game-winner in the bottom of the ninth, as the Brownsville Bucs nipped visiting Mill Run for its first win of the year.

Ryan Encapera tossed a complete game to earn the win.

Encapera struck out seven while allowing one walk and four hits.

Chris Lint pitched well in defeat, striking out 11 while giving up five hits.

The Bucs took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning when Mitch Mithcell was hit by a pitch, went to third on Matt Rechichar’s single and scored on Cales’ single.

Coffman’s RBI fielder’s choice tied for Mill Run in the seventh.

Mitchell and Rechichar both singled to start the ninth inning and chase Lint in favor of Dennis Show, who wild pitched the runners up before serving up Cale’s third hit of the game, a single to center that easily scored Mitchell.

Mitchell had two hits and scored both Brownsville runs, and Rechichar also had two hits.

Mill Run’s Bryner doubled for the only extra-base hit of the game.

Mario’s 4, Wana B Heros 1 – It wasn’t pretty, but Mario’s scored three runs in the first inning off of walks and picked up a single run in the top of the seventh to roll past Wana B Heros in a Fayette County League contest.

Bill Rouse, Jason Greene and Scott VanSickle all reached home on Shane Tonkavich walks.

Tonkavich totaled five walks through two and one-third’s inning and hit one batsman.

Winning pitcher Lou Pasquale (1-0) went the distance and struck out two.

In the top of the seventh, Todd Dunham led off with a single and moved to third on an error and scored on a Rouse sacrifice fly ball.

Ryan Group and Jono Menhart doubled for Waynesburg.

Bud Murphy’s 3, Waynesburg 2 – Ryan Misick homered doubled and scored the winning run as Bud Murphy’s slid past Waynesburg in County League action.

Waynesburg held a 2-1 lead going into the bottom of the fifth and Misick led off the fifth with a double and he was bunted to third. Waynesburg’s catcher threw away the ball to first and Misick scored the game-winning run.

Andy Greene was a one-man hitting machine for Waynesburg as he accounted for three of four total hits highlighted by a two-run shot in the third.

Winning pitcher Dale Eutsey (1-0) went the distance and struck out six.

Dom Winters went home with the loss. He went six innings, struck out three and walked six.
