Filcheck, Striner win Tri-Town Three run
It was Eddie Filcheck’s day to turn in a stellar performance as the Uniontown resident breezed past the competition Saturday morning to win the Tri-Town Three. Filcheck completed the 5K course run predominantly on the Yough River Trail across the river from Dawson in 17:28.29, 48 seconds ahead of Connellsville’s Francis Molinaro. Pittsburgh’s Joe Molinaro finished third with a time of 18:48.38.
Former Connellsville standout cross country runner and Saint Vincent College graduate Jenny Striner followed her performance in Thursday’s Bud Murphy’s/Highlands Hospital 5K with the Tri-Town title in 21:55.46. The women’s run was a bit tighter than the men’s race with Dunbar’s Debbie Conner second in 22:07.54. Uniontown’s Angie Schimansky placed third with a time of 25:24.
Dunbar’s Laura Jericho won the women’s 5K walk in 34:25.75. Charleroi’s Kathleen Mancinelli made the trip up Route 201 worth her while by finishing second in 35:10.91 with Connellsville’s Jacinta Ptacek in third with a time of 36:57.51.
Connellsville’s Matt Ptacek won the men’s 5K walk in a time of 33:08.53. Greensburg’s Karl Burkhart was second in 34:10.43 with Perryopolis’ Frank Babich third in 34:16.76.
The race, part of the Tri-Town Homecoming Days, attracted 40 runners and 29 walkers.
