Marsinko smacks 3-run homer in Mill Run’s 6-0 win over Hopwood Justin Marsinko drilled a three-run home run in the sixth inning Monday, adding a single while driving in four runs as Mill Run shut out Hopwood Fitness 6-0 in Fayette County Baseball League action.

Marsinko had help in the four-run sixth with teammate Brandon Bryner adding a solo home run off losing pitcher Chris Lewis.

Lewis finished the game with five strikeouts and no walks over seven innings.

Winning pitcher Tom Cesario scattered six hits and struck out five Hopwood batters in a complete game win.

Three other Mill Run players contributed offensively with Jeff Kooser slapping three singles and Jeremy Miller and Ray Orndorff each adding two singles.

Phil Gratchic singled three times for Hopwood.

Mill Run (6-9) travels to Hopwood (3-6) today for a 6 p.m. start.

Fayette American Legion

Carmichaels 9, Belle Vernon 6 – Carmichaels jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as they downed Belle Vernon in Fayette American Legion action.

A host of Carmichaels players posted extra base hits with Tim Rosteler leading the way with a triple and a single.

Teammates Marcus Robinson, John Pochron and Zach Cumberland each doubled and singled in Carmichaels’ 12-hit game, compared to six by Belle Vernon.

Logan Phillips was at the helm for Carmichaels, picking up his first victory. He went eight and one-third innings and fanned seven.

Scott Adams went on record as the losing pitcher, striking out two and allowing three walks for Belle Vernon.

Carmichaels (3-2) hopes to make it two straight wins as it hosts Charleroi today in a doubleheader starting at 4:30 p.m.
