BRADENTON, Fla. (AP) – Josh Fogg pitched two scoreless innings and Jose Leon homered as the Pittsburgh Pirates beat Valparaiso 12-0 Tuesday in their first exhibition game of the year. Valparaiso is the alma mater of Pirates manager Lloyd McClendon.

Fogg, 11-10 in a team-high 32 starts last season, gave up two doubles and struck out two.

Leon, a non-roster third baseman, gave the Pirates a 7-0 lead in the sixth inning with a two-run homer. He also had an RBI grounder.

The Pirates play Manatee Community College on today before opening their spring training schedule Thursday against the New York Yankees.
