Frostburg State knocks off Yellow Jackets in OT FROSTBURG, Md. (AP) – Shanorm Young ran for a 4-yard touchdown in overtime, his second of the game, to give Frostburg State a 17-10 win over Waynesburg on Saturday.
On Waynesburg’s overtime possession, Johan Owens knocked down a fourth-down pass in the end zone to end the game.
Young, who had 55 yards rushing on 23 carries, gave the Bobcats (6-3) an early lead with a 1-yard touchdown run. Mark Sedlock kicked a 26-yard field goal early in the third quarter to put Frostburg State ahead 10-0.
Later in the third, Ryan Abels got the Yellow Jackets (3-6) on the board with a 10-yard touchdown run. Ben Popson kicked a 33-yard field goal with 2:17 left in regulation to tie it.
Abels led Waynesburg with 84 yards rushing.
Edinboro 41, Lock Haven 3
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Justin Bouch threw three touchdown passes and Kelvin Collins scored twice on the ground as Edinboro routed Lock Haven.
Bouch threw for 243 yards, tossing scoring passes of 56 yards to Ryan Valasek, 4 yards to C.J. Trivisonno and 48 yards to Nate Eimer – all after halftime. Collins rushed for 118 yards and scored twice on a pair of short runs in the first half as Edinboro (8-2, 6-1 PSAC West) built a 35-0 lead early in the fourth quarter.
Brendon Pickel kicked a 33-yard field goal to give Lock Haven (2-9, 0-6) its only points.
Albany 20, Robert Morris 17
ALBANY, N.Y. – Brett Hall ran in from the 2-yard line with 2:57 left as Albany beat Robert Morris in Northeast play.
Albany (4-5, 4-2 Northeast) and Robert Morris (2-7, 1-5) traded leads throughout the game.
Omar Johnson scored Albany’s other two touchdowns and finished with 122 yards on 34 carries. His first score, a 1-yard run, put Albany ahead 7-3 at the half.
Robert Morris’ points came on a 41-yard pass from Drew Geyer to Michael Rogers, a 45-yard run by Devin Wilson and a 32-yard field goal by Nate DiLorenzo.
Wilson finished with 139 yards on 20 carries.
West Chester 24, Shippensburg 16
SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Bill Zwaan Jr. threw a pair of touchdown passes and Brandon Simmons scored on a punt return as West Chester topped Shippensburg.
Zwaan threw a 69-yard touchdown pass to Brent Steinmetz for the first score for West Chester (8-3), which trailed 9-7 at halftime.
But Simmons gave the Golden Rams the lead early in the second half with a 52-yard punt return for a TD and Zwaan added a 29-yard scoring pass to Mike Washington as the Rams scored 17 points in the third quarter. Steinmetz added 156 yards rushing on 30 carries for West Chester.
Thiel 21, Buffalo State 3
GREENVILLE, Pa. – Darrell Satterfield threw two touchdown passes to Brandon Chamber, as Thiel completed its first unbeaten regular season since 1950 with a win over Buffalo State.
Satterfield, who completed 14 of 32 passes for 261 yards, connected with Chamber on a 24-yard scoring pass with 4:28 left in the second quarter. The two also connected on a 67-yard scoring strike with 10:09 left in the game. Chamber had seven catches for 167 yards.
Westminster, Pa. 14, Grove City 13
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – Brett Ziegler caught a 14-yard touchdown pass from Brett Myers with just 16 seconds left in the game to give Westminster a win over Grove City.
After a scoreless first quarter, Westminster (4-5, 2-3 in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference) scored first when Ziegler caught a 43-yard touchdown pass from J.R. Barley.
But the Wolverines tied the score less than two minutes later when Bradford Clark threw a 47-yard touchdown pass to Scott Fichter to make it 7-7 at the half.
Grove City (3-7, 2-4) took the lead with 4:42 left in the third quarter when Ross Trimmer returned a fumble 42 yards. But kicker Brandon McCall missed the extra point in what proved to be a costly miss.
Duquesne 56, La Salle 14
PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Kevin Rombach threw two touchdown passes and Jeremy McCullough ran for two more as Duquesne rolled to a win over La Salle.
Rombach completed 12 of 15 passes for 207 yards. He connected with Alex Roberson on a 6-yard scoring strike in the second quarter, and with Travis Taltoan on a 31-yard scoring pass in the fourth quarter.
Mercyhurst 35, Findlay 21
ERIE, Pa. – Mitch Phillis threw three touchdown passes, including two to Jeff Nowling, as Mercyhurst recorded a victory over Findlay.
Geneva 29, Ohio Dominican 28
BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – Quarterback Justin Sciarro capped a 236-yard, three-touchdown afternoon with last-second heroics as Geneva beat Ohio Dominican.
Kutztown 29, Cheyney 12
KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Shane Martin threw two touchdown passes to lead Kutztown to a victory over Cheyney.
Bloomsburg 42, Millersville 28
BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Jamar Brittingham scored on a pair of long touchdown runs in the second half as Bloomsburg rallied to remain undefeated with a win over Millersville.
East Stroudsburg 57, Mansfield 20
EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – Jimmy Terwilliger threw for 334 yards and four touchdowns as East Stroudsburg overcame a 13-point deficit on the way to a win over Mansfield.
East Stroudsburg (8-2, 4-2 PSAC East) fell behind 20-7 in the second quarter after Mansfield’s John Hengehold threw his third touchdown pass. But the Warriors reeled off 50 straight points, starting with Terwilliger’s 11-yard TD pass to Anthony Carfagno and a 29-yard field goal by Mark Brubaker as time expired in the half.
After the break, Terwilliger threw touchdown passes of 19 yards to Tim Strenfel, 75 yards to Evan Prall and 20 yards to Carfagno. Derek Lucas scored on two short TD runs and backup quarterback Joe DeLuise tossed an 11-yard scoring pass to LeRyan Dallas to cap the scoring.
