Football Jackets’ Emley lauded

Nick Emley’s last game at Waynesburg College will be a memorable one for the Yellow Jacket senior as he was honored as the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in a 40-13 victory over Westminster.

Emley, a senior linebacker from Randolph, N.Y., had seven solo tackles as the Yellow Jacket defense limited the Titans, coached by former Waynesburg coach Jeff Hand, to just 49 yards rushing on 30 carries.

Grizzlies maul Lakers

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) – Pau Gasol had 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Memphis Grizzlies to an 85-73 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday night.

Eddie Jones added 16 points for the Grizzlies and Mike Miller had 13.

Shane Battier had 11 points and 11 rebounds for Memphis, and Lorenzen Wright had 12 rebounds.

Kobe Bryant led the Lakers with 18 points and Chris Mihm had 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Knicks win 2nd straight

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) – Jamal Crawford scored 20 points and the New York Knicks held Utah scoreless for almost 91/2 minutes in the third quarter while pulling ahead for their second straight win, 73-62 over the Jazz on Monday night.

The Knicks won for only the second time under new coach Larry Brown.
