Heatley scores 4 straight goals as Senators pummel Maple Leafs, 8-0 TORONTO (AP) – Dany Heatley scored four consecutive goals to lead the Ottawa Senators to a 8-0 rout over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night.
He netted his first on a rebound when goalie Ed Belfour failed to catch a puck after initially making a glove save. Heatley made it 4-0 at 1:16 of the second period after Toronto’s defense failed to check him in front of the net.
The next goal came after he fell down and scored on a one-timer from the circle at 4:19 of the second.
Heatley recorded his career-high fourth goal on a breakaway at 5:33 of the third. He is the first NHL player with four goals in a game since Vancouver’s Daniel Sedin did it Feb. 24, 2004, versus Detroit.
Dominik Hasek made 27 saves for his second shutout of the season and 65th of his career, one behind Patrick Roy for 13th on the NHL list.
Sabres 6, Islanders 4
UNIONDALE, N.Y. – Third-period, power-play goals by Daniel Briere, Tim Connolly and Ales Kotalik lifted Buffalo to a come-from-behind win over New York.
Briere scored off a wrist shot from the left circle with 8:29 left, and Connolly, a former Islanders first-round draft pick, netted the winner with 5:06 remaining on a wrist shot that crossed the goal line just before the net was knocked off its moorings. Kotalik scored his second of the game with 92 seconds left.
Lightning 3, Thrashers 2
ATLANTA – Fredrik Modin scored two goals, including the winner off an Atlanta player, and Tampa Bay rallied to beat the slumping Thrashers.
With Atlanta’s Serge Aubin in the penalty box, Modin shot toward the front of the net and got credit for the goal when the puck deflected off either the skate or stick of defenseman Niclas Havelid, sliding past goalie Steve Shields with 12:57 remaining.

MONTREAL – Dominic Moore scored twice and Jaromir Jagr notched his NHL-leading 11th goal in the Rangers’ win.
Martin Rucinsky had a goal and an assist for New York, which scored three goals on its first 10 shots against Montreal goalie Jose Theodore, who left after the first period.
Devils 5, Bruins 4, SO
BOSTON – Viktor Kozlov had two goals in regulation and scored in the shootout, and Scott Clemmensen stopped 27 shots – plus two of three penalty shots – to lead New Jersey Devils over the Bruins.
Oilers 5, Predators 1
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Ales Hemsky scored a power-play goal and added three assists, and goaltender Jussi Markkanen made 23 saves for Edmonton, who sent the Predators to their first regulation loss of the season.
Nashville started the season 8-0 before falling in overtime at Columbus on Wednesday night. The Predators now have a two-game losing streak after falling for the first time at home in six games.
Wild 3, Blue Jackets 1
ST. PAUL, Minn. – Todd White scored twice as Minnesota snapped a three-game winless streak, beating Columbus.
Filip Kuba had two assists as the Wild returned to their defensive ways for the win, holding Columbus to just 16 shots on goal and killing eight of the Blue Jackets’ nine power plays.
Minnesota’s Manny Fernandez had 15 saves, improving his season record to 4-1-1.
Wings 4, Blackhawks 2
CHICAGO – Robert Lang scored a goal in the third period and Chris Osgood had 23 saves to lead Detroit over the Blackhawks. Kirk Maltby and Mikael Samuelsson also scored goals for the Red Wings, who are off to their best start in franchise history at 11-1.
Detroit is off to the best start in the NHL since the Pittsburgh Penguins started off the 1994-95 season with a 11-0-1 record.
The Red Wings remained undefeated on the road with a 6-0 record.
Lang scored an unassisted goal for Detroit from the right circle with 15:21 left in the third period to break a 2-2 tie.
The Hawks missed a chance to tie the game at 3 with under two minutes to play when Matthew Barnaby’s shot went off the left post.
Henrik Zetterberg added an empty net goal with 27 seconds left to complete the scoring.
