Penguins sign Malone

PITTSBURGH (AP) – Ryan Malone re-signed with the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday. Malone, a 6-foot-4, 216-pound forward, was the Penguins fourth-round pick in the 1999 draft.

Malone, 25, scored a team-high 22 goals and had 21 assists in 81 games in the 2003-04 season.

He was tied for third in assists for the team and ranked fourth among NHL rookies in goals.

Malone is the son of Penguins scout Greg Malone and played at Upper St. Clair High School through his junior year.
