Waynesburg falls to Denison GRANVILLE, Ohio (AP) – Andrew Terlecky returned an interception 31 yards for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter to help Denison rally to a 21-17 victory over Waynesburg on Saturday.

Waynesburg (0-1) built a 17-0 lead, helped by a 5-yard TD run from Calvin Lee in the second quarter and a Nick Emley 47-yard interception return for a touchdown in third.

Larry Cappetto ran 39 yards for a touchdown in the third and Cappetto threw a 16-yard scoring pass to Zack Brent with 14:48 to play to pull Denison (1-0) to 17-14.

Terlecky intercepted a Bobby Ovesny pass on the ensuing possession and scored the go-ahead touchdown with 14:02 left.

Waynesburg’s last three possessions ended in a punt and two more interceptions.

Cappetto completed 16 of 23 passes for 153 yards for Denison. Ryan Abels rushed for 132 yards on 20 carries for Waynesburg.

Washington & Jefferson 42, Tri-State 0

ANGOLA, Ind. – Washington & Jefferson rolled up 560 yards in a 42-0 win over Tri-State.

Aaron Krepps caught two touchdown passes and ran for another score for the Presidents (1-0).

Krepps finished with six catches for 133 yards. Chris Edwards completed 18-of-24 passes for 302 yards and four touchdowns.

Jason Hochstetler led Tri-State with 80 yards on 15 carries.

Washington & Jefferson held Tri-State to 116 yards.

Dickinson 30, Juniata 13

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Andrew Ackley intercepted three passes and teammate Mike O’Donnell returned another interception for a touchdown as Dickinson beat Juniata 30-13 Saturday in the season opener for both teams.

Ackley picked off three passes by Juniata quarterback Jay Leonard, who was intercepted five times. O’Donnell intercepted Leonard late in the second quarter and returned it 47 yards for a touchdown to give Dickinson a 20-3 lead late in the second quarter. Brian Brugger had Dickinson’s fifth interception in the fourth quarter.

Carnegie Mellon 45, Hiram 0

PITTSBURGH – Jarrod Highberger threw for one touchdown and ran for another, while Colby Whitman ran for two more scores, as Carnegie Mellon beat Hiram 45-0 Saturday in the season opener for both teams.

Highberger completed 3 of 6 passes for 104 yards and connected with Kosta Bourlas on a 43-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter. Whitman carried the ball only four times and scored on runs of 9 and 4 yards.

Bloomsburg 33, Fairmont State 0

FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Jamar Brittingham scored three rushing touchdowns to lead Bloomsburg to a blowout 33-0 road win over Fairmont State on Saturday in the opening game for both teams.

All of Brittingham’s scores were on runs of two yards.

FAIRMONT, W.Va. (AP) – J. Brittingham scored three rushing touchdowns to lead Bloomsburg to a blowout 33-0 road win over Fairmont State on Saturday in the opening game for both teams.

All of Brittingham’s scores were on runs of two yards.

Manchester 24, Grove City 21

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind – Joe DeCraene hit Mitch Harnish for a 28-yard touchdown pass with 26 seconds left to lift Manchester over Grove City 24-21 on Saturday.

Manchester fell behind 21-17 when Adam Wargo’s 10-yard touchdown run gave Grove City the lead with 2:54 to play. Manchester then used an 8-play, 83-yard drive for the game-winning score.
