Siebert leads McGuffy past Waynesburg Chris Sibert topped the century mark with 122 yards on 11 carries and two touchdowns as McGuffey handed Waynesburg Central its first Interstate Conference loss and second overall by the score of 21-14.
Sibert erupted for scores of 68 and 24 yards in the second and fourth quarters. He had help in the backfield as teammate Aaron Smith carried the ball 15 times for 80 yards.
McGuffey quarterback Keaton Hamberger put the first points on the board on a 25-yard strike to Dan Loughman at the 10:02 mark in the first quarter.
Waynesburg’s Troy Cree quickly answered on a 49-yard touchdown run followed by a Nick Patton kick.
Cree rushed for 97 yards on 12 carries to lead all Raider rushers.
After Sibert’s two scores, Waynesburg’s J.D. Higgins put the final points on the scoreboard at 1:13 left in regulation with a 3-yard jaunt followed by another Patton kick.
The Raiders posted 195 yards of total offence compared to the Highlanders 231.
Waynesburg (1-1, 2-2) starts a two-game road trip starting Friday at Jeannette.
Bishop Canevin 13, Beth-Center 12 – Fourth-ranked Bishop Canevin knocked off unbeaten Beth-Center in Black Hills Conference action Friday.
The Bulldogs (1-1, 3-1) host Fort Cherry Friday.
Girls tennis
Connellsville 5, Greensburg Salem 0 – Megan Parsons made quick work of Noel Harrold (6-1, 6-3) in the first singles match en route to a shutout victory over Greensburg Salem in non-section action.
Lauren Hartz downed Ali Heckman in the second singles match 6-1, 6-2 and Amy Lucas blanked Emily Morris (6-0, 6-0) in the third singles match.
The team of Miranda Hughes and Laura Husband continued the unbeaten streak with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Heather Patrick and Amanda Brusco and Kayla Naugle and Emily Stout made it a clean sweep over Stefani Brooks and Marissa Miller (6-2, 6-0).
The Lady Falcons (3-4, 1-4) visit Southmoreland Monday in a non-section contest.
Girls soccer
Ringgold 5, Connellsville 0 – Amanda Shine scored three of Ringgold’s five goals in a Section 6-AAA win over visiting Connellsville Friday.
The Lady Rams led 1-0 at the half and erupted for four second-half goals for the easy win.
Connellsville goalkeeper Katrina Kelly posted 13 saves and the Ringgold defense held the Lady Falcons to just one shot on goal, compared to its 18.
Connellsville (3-3, 2-3) returns home Monday to host Uniontown.
Women’s volleyball
Waynesburg 3, LaRoche 0 – Waynesburg bettered its record to 3-4 overall with a shutout victory over host LaRoche (30-22, 31-29, 30-19).
Laurie Linder led with 15 kills and teammate Lauren Freeman added 14 digs.
The Yellow Jackets play tournament host next weekend.
