Roe, Colsaerts share second-round lead at Scandinavian Masters

LODDEKOPINGE, Sweden (AP) – Mark Roe shot a 7-under 65 Friday to share the lead with Nicolas Colsaerts at 10-under 134 after the second round of the Scandinavian Masters. Roe was 144th on the European Order of Merit going into the Swedish event and is in danger of losing his card after 21 consecutive years on the tour.

“I’m 43 years old and I never really intended to play this long,” Roe said. “If I do keep my card I’ll just play 12 events next year. If I don’t I’ll retire.”

Colsaerts, who shared the first-round lead with two others, shot his second straight 67. The Belgian made seven birdies, but had consecutive bogeys on the 14th and 15th.

Fredrik Jacobson delighted the big gallery at Barseback Golf and Country club in southern Sweden with a 67 that left him in third place at 8-under 136.

Marc Warren of Scotland, who shared the first-round lead with Colsaerts and England’s Benn Barham, was also two shots behind the leaders after a 69. Warren, looking for his first European Tour win, completed his round after an 80-minute delay due to a thunderstorm.

Barham slipped to a 73 and dropped to 4 under.

Richard Sterne of South Africa and Tom Whitehouse of England shared fifth place at 138.

Michael Campbell of New Zealand, last year’s U.S. Open champion, only managed a 75 and was tied for 36th at 143 in his 10th Scandinavian Masters start.

Among those missing the cut were defending champion Mark Hensby of Australia, 2004 British Open champion Todd Hamilton of the United States, Memorial winner Carl Pettersson of Sweden, last year’s runner-up Henrik Stenson, who is a Barseback member, and Johan Edfors of Sweden, who captured his third title in four months at the Scottish Open to close in on a spot on Europe’s Ryder Cup team next month.

The 7,365-yard Barseback course, site of the 2003 Solheim Cup, is one of the longest on the European Tour.
