Uniontown Legion routs Colonial Uniontown scored all the runs it would need with six in the top of the first inning Saturday on its way to a 13-1 Fayette American Legion Baseball League victory over Colonial called after six innings because of the 12-run rule.
The visitors added five runs in the second inning and two more in the third to improve its record to 13-3. Uniontown will host Charleroi in a battle of the top two teams in the league at 2 p.m. to finish a suspended game.
Cory Borland went the distance to improve to 3-0, striking out four and walking four with the lone Colonial run unearned.
He also helped himself at the plate, going 3-for-3.
Jim Blosser also went 3-for-3, adding four RBIs. Nick Erminio had a double and single with Eric Fudala adding an extra base hit with a double.
FCBL All-Stars 13, Penn-Mar (Md.) 8 – The Fayette County Baseball League all-stars belted nine hits and were helped by six errors to defeat the Penn-Mar (Md.) Friday night.
The local all-stars jumped right out of the gate with five runs in the bottom of the first inning, building a 10-3 lead after three innings. The visitors closed the gap with three runs in the top of the fourth and single tallies in the sixth and seventh inning.
The FCBL all-stars scored some insurance runs with one in the seventh and two more in the eighth.
Nick Damico didn’t allow a run with two strikeouts in the first inning to earn the win.
Dennis Show, Dan Thomas and Dan Novak all doubled for the FCBL all-stars while Josh Dolly, Justin Minnick and Brandon Benson did the same for Penn-Mar.
Novak and Mark Edenfield shared game MVP honors. Novak finished with two hits and two RBIs while Edenfield added a single and sacrifice fly to drive in three runs. Dave Jones had the game-winning RBI with a single in the third inning.
