Buc’s ‘walks away’ with 7-2 victory over Potters Bud Murphy’s “walked away” with a victory Friday night, transforming 13 walks and a hit-batsman into five runs for a 7-2 victory over Potter’s Clubhouse in Fayette County Baseball League action.
Potter’s Clubhouse (3-10) out hit Bud Murphy’s, 11-7, but Brian Hilbert (3-1) didn’t walk anyone for a complete game victory.
Brian Showman led Bud Murphy’s (10-4-1) with two hits and two RBIs. Hilbert struck out seven.
Jarod Early had a double and two singles for Potter’s Clubhouse (3-10).
Bud Murphy’s plays a doubleheader against Wana B Heros at home Sunday beginning at 1 p.m.
Mario’s 9, Waynesburg 7 – Waynesburg scored all of its runs in the first two innings, including six in the bottom of the second inning, but the visitors rallied with five runs in the top of the sixth for the win in a game called in the top of the seventh inning due to darkness.
Mario’s tied the game with a single run in the top of the second, and cut into its deficit with three runs in the third.
Ryan Robowski (2-0) helped Mario’s escape Waynesburg’s big inning, and then threw three shutout innings to set up Mario’s big inning.
Jim Kubina, who earned the save by pitching the sixth inning, smacked a one-out, two-run single to make the score 7-6. An error tied the game, and then Scott VanSickle walked with the bases loaded to give Mario’s an 8-7 lead. Jason Greene’s sacrifice fly added an insurance run. Only one of the five runs was earned.
Kubina had a pair of singles while Waynesburg’s Luke Becilla had a game-high three singles.
The victory marked Mario’s coach Lou Pasquale’s 100th regular season victory.
Waynesburg falls to 4-14. Mario’s (15-2-2) will play California at home Sunday in a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
