Biffle leads third day of Bassmaster Elite
BREWERTON, N.Y. (AP) – Tommy Biffle had the lead Saturday after three rounds of the Bassmaster Elite Empire Chase on Oneida Lake. Biffle, of Wagoner, Okla., weighed in at 16 pounds, 7 ounces for a three-day total of 47 pounds, 10 ounces and a 7-ounce lead over Ken Cook, of Meers, Okla., who had a third-day catch of 15 pounds, 14 ounces.
Dave Wolak, of Warrior Run, Pa., moved up 13 spots to third with the day’s biggest bag weighing in at 17 pounds, 15 ounces for a total of 47 pounds.
Terry Butcher, of Talala, Okla., caught a 5 pound, 14 ounce large mouth – the biggest fish caught, earning him a $1,000 bonus.
Butcher finished in 21st place, missing the top 12 finale Sunday.
Donald Bishop, of Verona, Pa., was the top amateur angler with 10 pounds, 12 ounces, and a total of 26 pounds, 10 ounces.
Bishop won a new boat and accessories valued at $45,000. He also reeled in the biggest fish among the amateurs at 4 pounds, 4 ounces, earning him an extra $500.
The winner will receive $100,000.
