Big inning carries Mario’s past Bud’s
Mario’s erupted for seven runs in the top of the fourth as they cruised to an easy 15-4 Fayette County League win over host Bud Murphy’s. Scott VanSickle ripped a two-run home run in the third and Shayne Busti also hit a two-run shot in the sixth.
Mario’s Kevin House and Dale Eutsey also homered. House had a two-run home run in the third and Eutsey’s home run was a two-run shot in the sixth.
Winning pitcher Jeff Barnyak worked four innings, allowed two runs, two hits and struck out a batter.
Nick Damico went home with the loss. He pitched three and two-thirds innings, allowed nine runs on eight hits with three strikeouts and two walks.
Mario’s totaled 15 hits, compared to Bud Murphy’s five highlighted by VanSickle’s home run. He also added a single and drove in four runs.
Jason Greene totaled three hits including a double and two RBI’s and Jeff Lapkowicz had two singles and drove in three runs.
Mario’s plays Tuesday at home against the Wana B Heros.
Carmichaels 6, Wana B Heros 2 – Chuck Humes slapped a leadoff home run in the fifth inning to pace Carmichaels past the Wana B Heros in County League action.
Dan Gerginski held up his end of the bargain on the mound with a three-hitter and seven strikeouts.
Chuck Weaver went on record as the losing pitcher. He worked five innings with two strikeouts and a walk.
Ryan Gerginski doubled and singled for Carmichaels and Brad Baker doubled. Teammate Rick Smykla singled twice.
Dan Novak had the lone extra base hit for the Heros with a double.
Carmichaels plays today at Potter’s.
California 5, Waynesburg 3 – Nate Hopkins ripped a solo home run in the sixth inning as California edged past Waynesburg.
Larry Christinis worked six innings with five strikeouts and a walk, while Travis Largent pitched six innings, struck out five and walked three for Waynesburg.
Hopkins also singled and drove in a run and Jason Dayner went 2-for-2 with a sacrifice fly.
Brett Shimek singled twice for Waynesburg.
California plays Redd Dawgs today at home.
