Madia wins big
Sam Madia participated in the 16th annual Dayton Track Classic Saturday at White Welcome Stadium at the University of Dayton. Madia, who competes in the 80-84 age group, racked up three first-place finishes and two second-place finishes.
Madia placed first in the 100 meters (0:17), the 200 (0:41) and the shot put with a distance of 25.5 feet.
He finished second in the discus with a distance of 57 feet and in the javelin with a throw of 54 feet.
Next up for Madia is the North Coast Cleveland Classic this coming Saturday.

Brauer wins tournament
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (AP) – Denny Brauer won the Bassmaster Elite Series’ Champion’s Choice Tournament on Lake Champlain on Sunday, finishing the four-day event with a catch of 80 pounds, 3 ounces.
“The older you get, the more you appreciate it,” said Brauer, the 2006 Bassmaster Elite Series’ Champion’s Choice winner and 1998 Bassmaster Classic champion.
The 57-year-old Brauer, from Camdenton, Mo., earned $102,000 with the win, raising his lifetime Bassmaster winnings to more than $2 million.
Brent Chapman of Lake Quivira, Kan., was second at 72 pounds, 5 ounces, and Terry Butcher of Talala, Okla., finished third at 70 pounds, 11 ounces.
