Redd Dawgs shutout Bud’s, 2-0 Trevor Consavage and Brian Hilbert didn’t allow opposing offensives many opportunities to score, but Redd Dawgs scratched together a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth inning Wednesday for a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Bud Murphy’s in Fayette County Baseball League action.
Bud Murphy’s (12-7-2) defeated Redd Dawgs, 2-1, on Tuesday.
Justin Murphy singled with two outs for the home squad to start the winning rally. He was singled to third by Dave Jones with Jones stealing second to put two runners in scoring position. Ryan Russell came through in the clutch with a two-run single.
Consavage (1-2) allowed five hits, striking out three and walking two. He also contributed two of Redd Dawgs’ six singles.
Brian Hilbert took the loss, striking out three and walking two. Alex Lefcakis had two singles for Bud Murphy’s.
Redd Dawgs hosts Wana B Heros Saturday in a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
Carmichaels 5, Potter’s Clubhouse 3 – Phil Gratchic’s two-run single tied the game in the top of the third inning, but Chris Buncic’s RBI single in the bottom of the fourth provided the edge Ron Nopwasky and the Copperheads needed.
Carmichaels (17-6) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but Potter’s Clubhouse rallied with a single tally in the second and Gratchic’s single in the third.
Buncic added an insurance run in the sixth inning with a solo home run.
Nopwasky (6-2) went 4.1 innings for the win, allowing no runs while striking out six and walking three. Dan Burkintas earned his first save of the season. Zach Solly had a double for Carmichaels.
Gratchic led the way for Potter’s with three singles.
Potter’s Clubhouse (2-19) hosts Mario’s today and will travel to Carmichaels Friday.
California 8, Waynesburg 6 – Jason Britton brought home the deciding run with a sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth inning and Bryan Dunn made the lead stand with his first save of the season as California won on the road in Fayette County Baseball League action.
California jumped out of the gate with six runs in the first, the opening two runs coming home on Ryan Encapera’s single.
Waynesburg chipped back with two runs in the first, one in the second, two more in the fourth and one in the sixth.
Nate Hopkins led off the sixth for California (8-14) with a triple. He scored on Britton’s sacrifice, and Jason Dayner and Bryan Dunn were walked to keep the inning alive. Dayner moved to third on a fielder’s choice and scored on a balk.
Matt Morich (3-3) went five innings for the win, allowing five runs (four earned) on nine hits. He struck out four and walked two. Dunn pitched the seventh inning for the save. Hopkins led California with three hits and an RBI.
Dom Winters had three singles for Waynesburg (5-17) with J.W. Kayla adding a pair of singles.
California hosts Bud Murphy’s Friday at 6 p.m.
