Mario’s bats boom in 15-0 shutout Mario’s bats were in full swing Tuesday behind Shayne Busti’s solo home run in the third inning as they blanked Wana B Heros 15-0 in Fayette County Baseball League action.
Not to be outdone, winning pitcher Todd Dunham (4-0) held up his end with a one-hit shutout that included six strikeouts.
Busti had help at the plate as Ryan Robowski doubled twice, Jeff Lapkowicz doubled and Mark Edenfield singled.
Teammates Scott VanSickle, Matt Chalfant and Jared Lapkowicz each singled twice.
Dan Novak had an infield single in the fourth for Wana B Heros’ lone hit.
Adam Sattler went on record as the losing pitcher. He worked just two-thirds innings with six runs on five hits and a walk.
The win wraps up the regular season for Mario’s with a 23-3-2 record.
Bud Murphy’s 5, California 1 – Brian Showman and Alex Lefcakis doubled as Bud Murphy’s cruised past visiting California.
Winning pitcher Bob Saddler extended his record to 4-1 with three innings pitched, two strikeouts and a hit.
Ryan Encapera went home with the loss. He worked five innings, allowed five earned runs with a strikeout and a walk.
Mark Riggin and Brian Shipley were multiple hitters for Bud’s with three and two singles.
With the regular season coming to a close, Bud’s squares off against California twice in make-up games.
Carmichaels 7, Mill Run 5 – Charlie Humes went a perfect 4-for-4 with four singles as Carmichaels edged Mill Run 7-5 in nine innings.
Teammate Jeff Thompson tripled, while Chris Buncic and Ron Napwosky each doubled. Craig Santella added two singles.
Winning pitcher Zach Sally worked two and two-thirds innings with four strikeouts and three walks.
Losing hurler Jeff Kooser pitched three innings with a strikeout and no walks.
Brandon Bryner was the big hitter for Mill Run with a triple and single, while Jim Warrick doubled and singled.
Thursday Mill Run visits Wana B Heros for a makeup game.
Redd Dawgs 10, Potter’s 8 – Dave Pankiewicz and Dan Thomas each went 3-for-3 with three singles as Redd Dawgs posted a victory over Potter’s Clubhouse.
Ryan Russell doubled and singled, while Justin Murphy, Jim Berger and Mark Woleslagle each singled twice for Redd Dawgs.
Winning pitcher Sam Bashour (2-0) went five innings, allowed 12 hits, seven runs (six earned) with two strikeouts and three walks.
Tim Latham came on in relief with two innings, three hits, one run, four strikeouts and a walk.
Losing pitcher Ryan Guthrie started and worked five innings. He allowed nine runs (eight earned), 13 hits, no strikeouts and five walks.
The Redd Dawgs (18-8-1) are back in action at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Wana B. Heros.
Potter’s 4, Waynesburg 3; Potter’s 5, Waynesburg 4 – Potter’s Clubhouse posted two victories last Thursday in a twilight doubleheader over Waynesburg.
In the first game, Casey Kupets led off the fourth with a solo home run, while Dan Guthrie posted two doubles and a single.
Dave Novotney picked up his first County League victory on the mound.
In the nightcap, Phil Gratchic gave Potter’s the RBI single in the fifth inning to tie the game and they scored the winning run on an error.
Rick Wilson picked up his second County League win with two strikeouts and three walks.
