Beltran’s bat booms in Mets’ win over Braves ATLANTA (AP) – Carlos Beltran hit two homers, including his third grand slam in July, and the New York Mets completed their first sweep of at least three games in Atlanta in 21 years, beating the Braves 10-6 Sunday.
Beltran’s slam off Chuck James (4-2) in the second inning was the Mets’ major league record-tying sixth of the month.
Darren Oliver (4-0) pitched a scoreless fifth inning while relieving Glavine. Billy Wagner recorded the final four outs for his 22nd save in 26 chances.

HOUSTON – Conor Jackson hit a go-ahead homer off Brad Lidge in the ninth inning and Arizona rallied after Roger Clemens left the game, beating the Astros.
Clemens had a season-high nine strikeouts in seven sharp, two-hit, no-walk innings and left with a 5-1 lead. But Jeff DaVanon hit an RBI single and Eric Byrnes added a three-run homer off Chad Qualls in the eighth to tie it.
Jackson hit a two-run homer off Lidge and Jorge Julio allowed Adam Everett’s RBI double in the bottom half before finishing up for his 13th save.

MILWAUKEE – Ben Sheets allowed two runs in eight-plus innings and newcomer Kevin Mench drove in four runs to lead the Brewers over Cincinnati.

PHILADELPHIA – Chase Utley homered and extended his hitting streak to 31 games, and Ryan Howard hit his NL-leading 35th homer to help the Phillies complete a doubleheader sweep over Florida.

CHICAGO – Carlos Zambrano outpitched Chris Carpenter to win his ninth straight decision as the Cubs completed a four-game sweep of St. Louis.
Chicago’s first four-game sweep of the Cardinals at Wrigley Field since 1972 left the Cardinals 0-7 this season at the Cubs’ home park.

DENVER – Matt Holliday homered and Jason Jennings pitched seven solid innings for his first win in a month, helping the Rockies inch closer to the NL West-leading Padres.
Holliday hit his team-leading 19th homer in the fourth inning.

LOS ANGELES – Cesar Izturis doubled home the go-ahead run in the eighth inning and the Dodgers hit three home runs against Ramon Ortiz to beat Washington and complete a three-game sweep.

OAKLAND, Calif. – Milton Bradley hit a three-run shot for his first career walkoff home run to lift the Athletics to the win after Toronto rallied in the top of the ninth.

NEW YORK – Johnny Damon hit a pair of home runs and Mike Mussina won his fifth straight decision, leading New York over Tampa Bay.

MINNEAPOLIS – Michael Cuddyer hit a two-run triple in Minnesota’s six-run eighth inning.

BALTIMORE – Javy Lopez’s bases-loaded single in the ninth inning off Bobby Jenks capped a two-run comeback for the Orioles.
Mariners 7, Indians 3
CLEVELAND – Jose Lopez and Raul Ibanez each had two-run singles with two outs in the ninth to help Seattle get the win.
Jacob Woods (3-1) pitched a scoreless eighth inning for the win and J.J. Putz got out of a jam in the ninth for his 22nd save in 26 chances.
Cleveland lost for the 11th time in 15 games since July 14 and went 3-6 on a nine-game homestand. Fausto Carmona (1-4) got the loss.
Richie Sexson hit a two-run homer for Seattle.
The Indians also traded infielder Ronnie Belliard to St. Louis for infielder Hector Luna on Sunday.
