Mill Run, Waynesburg split County League twinbill Rich Orndorff tripled and doubled while teammate Brandon Firestone doubled twice as Mill Run downed Waynesburg 9-3 in the nightcap of a doubleheader Sunday. Waynesburg won the first game, 7-6.
In the first game, the Waynesburg bats were in full swing as A.J. Curtis ripped four singles, J.W. Kayla had two singles as did teammate Chris Antinine.
Winning pitcher Brian Johnson worked five and two-thirds innings with seven strikeouts and four walks, while Jeff Kooser went home with the loss. He pitched just one and one-thirds innings with a strikeout.
Kooser and Jeremy Miller singled twice for Mill Run.
In the nightcap, Winning pitcher Chris Lynn fanned five batters and walked two in six innings of action.
Brandon Rumbaugh went on record as the losing pitcher. He struck out six and walked one in seven innings.
Bud Murphy’s 10, Potter’s 3 – Potter’s allowed 12 walks and Scott Hruby hit three batters and Bud Murphy’s capitalized with a victory in Fayette County League action.
Bud’s jumped out to an early 6-2 lead through the first four innings and never looked back as they held Potter’s to four hits behind Nick Damico’s pitching.
Damico worked five innings, allowed two unearned runs and struck out three.
Losing pitcher Hruby allowed six earned runs.
Alex Lefcakis led the Bud’s offense with a solo shot to lead off the third inning.
