Mosco leads Uniontown girls past Beth-Center Annabel Mosco scored the first two goals of the game Saturday, and her teammates added four more as Uniontown defeated visiting Beth-Center, 6-1, for a non-section girls soccer victory.

Anna Girod and Devin Grote added goals in the first half for the Lady Raiders. Kelsie Herring and Meggie Menarcheck scored in the second half for Uniontown.

Beth-Center (0-10) avoided the shutout on Sam Starkey’s goal late in the first half.

Jordan Merschat only faced two shots in the net for Uniontown. Beth-Center’s Natasha Cutts made six saves.

Uniontown (3-7) travels to Waynesburg Central on Monday for a Section 6-AAA match.

Waynesburg Central 6, Bentworth 1 – The Lady Raiders took a break from section action with a convincing win over visiting Bentworth. The only shot the Waynesburg defense and goalkeeper Miatta Toothman allowed was a penalty kick by Samantha Ritzer that accounted for the Lady Bearcats’ lone goal.

Rebecca Rohanna scored a hat trick for Waynesburg (9-4), scoring the first two goals of the game. Taylor Augustina, Claire Vehar and Ashley Phillips also scored for the Lady Raiders.

In other non-section girls action, Connellsville defeated Derry, 1-0.

The Belle Vernon boys defeated Valley, 7-0, in a Section 1-AA match. In non-section action, Beth-Center won on the road at Uniontown, 6-1, Southmoreland defeated Laurel Highlands, 6-1, and Waynesburg Central beat South Side Beaver, 7-2.

Women’s volleyball

Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus 3, Penn State-DuBois 0 – The Roaring Lions needed only three sets for a PSUAC road victory, defeating Penn State-DuBois, 30-19, 30-14, 30-20.

Abbie Renze controlled the offense for Penn State Fayette with 20 assists. Kelly Kite provided strong backline defense with eight digs while Abby Holbrook was a force at the net with 18 kills.

The Roaring Lions improve to 9-1 in the conference and 11-3 overall.

California (Pa.) 3, Anderson (S.C.) 0; California (Pa.) 3, Alderson-Broaddus (W.Va.) 0 – The Vulcans didn’t drop a set at the Shippensburg Tournament, running their winning streak to eight consecutive matches with their sixth consecutive shutout.

California downed Anderson, 30-13, 30-25, 30-17, and Alderson-Broaddus, 30-22, 30-20, 30-16, to improve to 16-3 overall.

Allison Liptak had 21 kills in the two matches with 16 digs and two aces in the first match. Amanda Evans had a strong effort in the first match with 11 kills, matching Liptak’s effort in the second match with seven kills.

Jefferson-Morgan graduate Shanna Yourchik had 12 blocks in the two matches.

Women’s soccer

Westminster 8, Waynesburg 0 – The Titans had things their way, defeating the Yellow Jackets for a Presidents’ Athletic Conference road victory.

Westminster’s Sarah Calderone scored a hat trick to run her season goal total to six. Christina Adams added a pair of goals.

Waynesburg could only muster four shots against the Titans’ goalkeepers Lindsey Mellott and Lauren Strang. Amy Mills made 15 saves and Jenna Twisselmann turned aside three in the net for Waynesburg.

Waynesburg slips to 3-5-1 while Westminster improves to 5-3-1.

Indiana (Pa.) 4, California (Pa.) 0 – Brittany Pikur scored in the second minute at California, and the visiting defense made the lead stand for a PSAC-West road victory.

California mustered seven shots against Indiana (6-1, 9-3), two by freshman forward Amanda Heister.

California (2-5, 4-8) travels to Clarion Monday afternoon for another PSAC-West match.

Men’s soccer

Westminster 4, Waynesburg 1 – The Titans made it a sweep for the visitors on goals from Matt Tomnay, Justin Flowers, Mark Sadler and Andrew Saporito. Michael Wilson netted the lone goal for the Yellow Jackets.

Brad Davis made eight saves while Luke Navickas turned aside a pair of shots in the net for Waynesburg.

Waynesburg falls to 3-7 while Westminster goes to 5-3-2.
