Goal-line stand preserves Frazier’s 22-14 victory

The Frazier defense held strong from its own 1-yard line, stuffing Chartiers-Houston on three consecutive plays to preserve a 22-14 Black Hills Conference road victory Friday night. Jordan Adams 11-yard run with 1:49 left in the game rallied the Commodores back into the lead, and Vince Conti’s 2-point run gave the visitors an 8-point lead.

The Bucs had a first-and-goal at the Commodores’ 8-yard line. A screen pass moved the ball to the 1-yard line, but the Frazier defense was up to the challenge.

Jim Traynor opened the scoring in the first quarter on a 7-yard pass from Joe Kulikoski. Traynor, who finished with five catches for 106 yards, scored his second touchdown on a 62-yard pass from Kulikoski to spot the Commodores to a 14-0 lead.

Chartiers-Houston came right back when Blake Williamson returned the ensuing kickoff 75 yards for a touchdown. Andrew Pepras scored a couple minutes later for the Bucs on a 58-yard run with Jordan Yocum’s kick tying the game.

Kulikoski completed 14 passes for 208 yards.

Beth-Center 13, Serra Catholic 6 – The Bulldogs moved into first place all alone in the Black Hills Conference with a key victory over the visiting Eagles.

Steve Hvizda scored on a 13-yard run with 2:09 remaining after the Beth-Center defense made its third interception of the game.

Ryan Butka opened the scoring on a 31-yard run for the Bulldogs and Chase Bedillion was true on the kick for a 7-0 lead at 9:15 of the second quarter.

Isiah Jackson caught a 27-yard touchdown pass form Mark Rozanski at 7:52 of the third quarter, but the Eagles missed the extra point.

Butka ran for 75 yards to lead the Bulldogs.

Jefferson-Morgan 35, Monessen 6 – Justin Falcon scored on a 10-yard run midway through the first quarter and the Rockets never looked back for an important Tri-County South Conference victory at Monessen.

Falcon scored on a 5-yard run in the third quarter. Scott Bogdan, Jarrod Moskola and Mike Mox also scored running touchdowns. Falcon carried the ball 16 times for 165 yards.
