Waynesburg in playoffs after victory over Fillies Melody Cox scored the lone goal at the six-minute mark in the second half as Waynesburg Central blanked host Laurel Highlands 1-0 in Section 6-AAA action.
The win gave the Lady Raiders their first playoff berth in the program’s history.
Ashley Phillips assisted on Cox’s goal. Waynesburg Central’s Miatta Toothman was in at goal and posted five saves against the Fillies.
LH’s Jackie Gaddis stopped four Waynesburg shots.
The Lady Raiders (9-3, 11-4) host West Mifflin Saturday in non-section action.
Connellsville 4, Uniontown 0 – Paige Puskar scored a goal and assisted on another en route to an easy Section 6-AAA win over visiting Uniontown.
Puskar found the back of the net on a Stephanie Bell assist at 28:14 in the first half.
Jenna Luczka scored five minutes later to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead at the half.
Kylee Heck opened the second half on a Puskar assist and Veronica Rumbaugh put the icing on the cake at 15:22 with an unassisted goal.
Connellsville goalkeeper Katrina Kelly stopped four shots.
The Lady Falcons host Laurel Highlands Friday.

Waynesburg 4, Thiel 3 – Out-shooting the Tomcats by a 20-10 margin, the Yellow Jackets scored a pair of unanswered goals in the final 12 minutes of the game to overcome a 3-2 second-half deficit, as Waynesburg earned a win over Thiel on Wednesday afternoon.
Sophomore and Albert Gallatin Brad Davis picked up the win in goal for Waynesburg. He registered five saves while facing 10 shots. Thiel’s Mark Coney shouldered the loss after making six saves.
The Jackets face Geneva College today at Beaver Falls.
