Roper lifts AG past UHS Emmett Roper scored his second goal of the game in overtime as Albert Gallatin defeated host Uniontown in a Section 4-AAA game that marked the end of the regular season for both teams.

The Colonials (2-14, 2-10) scored the first three goals of the game. Nate Desmorne found the net on an assist from Donnie Taylor, Roper scored on an assist from Anthony Stevenson and Jon Georgi scored on a penalty kick.

The Red Raiders (0-17-1, 0-14) rallied back with goals from Brandon Johnston, Luke Monahan and Alex Lambrino to pull even at halftime.

After a six-goal first half, neither team could dent the other’s defense in the second half.

In overtime, Roper took a pass from Desmorne and deposited the game-winning goal in the right corner of the net to give Albert Gallatin the victory.

Ringgold 3, Laurel Highlands 0 – Ringgold improved its record to 7-12 with a non-section victory over visiting Laurel Highlands, which fell to 8-12.

Girls soccer

Waynesburg Central 6, Albert Gallatin 0 – Claire Vehan scored two goals and Miatta Toothman recorded her seventh shutout of the season as playoff-bound Waynesburg Central blanked host Albert Gallatin in a Section 6-AAA match.

The Lady Raiders (13-5, 10-4) took a 2-0 lead in the first half as Melissa Ballard scored on an assist from Brittany Spitznogle and Vehar scored with an assist from Stacey Hamilton.

Waynesburg blew the game open in the second half with goals from Ashley Phillips, Rebecca Rohanna, Vehar and Melody Cox. Carly Loughman, Sara Grimes and Abby Toothman had second-half assists.

Miatta Tootham mad six saves.

Alyssa Clark was valiant in defeat for the Lady Colonials, stopping 38 shots.

Uniontown 4, Yough 0 – Annabell Mosco scored twice as Uniontown blanked visiting Yough in a Section 6-AAA match.

Mosco and Sarah Markwardt found the net in the first half, while Mosco and Devan Grote scored in the second half with the latter coming on a penalty kick.

Danielle Carolla made four saves in recording the shutout. Hope Seduniv made 24 saves for the Lady Cougars.

The Lady Raiders finish the regular season at 4-11-1 overall and 3-9 in the section.

Girls volleyball

Geibel Catholic 3, Mapletown 0 – Geibel Catholic warmed up for its upcoming match with Frazier by sweeping past Mapletown in Section 6-A action.

The Lady Gators, ranked No. 1 in the WPIAL, rolled past the Maples by scores of 25-11, 25-12 and 25-11 in improving to 13-0 overall and 11-0 in the section.

Natalie Hozak led the way for Geibel Catholic with six kills and 17 digs, and Chelsey Kreinbrook added 11 assists and 11 service points. Caroline Renni also had six kills.

Mapletown falls to 0-18 overall and 0-11 in the section.

The Lady Gators travel to Frazier for the showdown with the seventh-ranked Lady Commodores on Thursday at 7 p.m.

Connellsville 3, Albert Gallatin 0 – Jade Turner had five blocks as Connellsville defeated host Albert Gallatin in a Section 2-AAA match by scores of 25-13, 25-10 and 25-6.

Sto-Rox 3, Waynesburg Central 0 – Lindsey Pollock registered six blocks and five kills but it wasn’t enough as Waynesburg Central fell at Sto-Rox in three tough games in a Section 4-AA match, 25-23, 25-20 and 25-20.

Megan Galloway had four digs and Becca Phipps chipped in with five assists for the Lady Raiders (7-9), who host McGuffey on Thursday.

Belle Vernon 3, Brownsville 0 – Brownsville lost at Belle Vernon in a Section 5-AA match, 25-13, 25-21, 25-16.

Bethany Jurczak contributed 11 service points, two kills and two assists for the Lady Falcons (5-13, 1-12). Tiera Ramsey added five service points and two kills.

Brownsville travels to Uniontown for a 7 p.m. match today.

Women’s volleyball

Penn State Fayette 3, Chatham 1 – Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus defeated NCAA Division III Chatham in a non-conference match to improve its record to 18-3 on the season.

The Roaring Lions won by scores of 30-22, 28-30, 30-25, 30-19.

Geibel Catholic graduate Abbie Renze had 30 digs, Albert Gallatin graduate Rachel Dunham had 39 assists, and Abby Holbrook slammed home 18 kills for Penn State Fayette, which travels to Bethany for another non-conference battle on Thursday.
