While there is a chill in the air, head indoors to your local bowling alley and roll a few games. My column is finally back for another season. The Denny’s PBA Tour season is fast approaching, as the 2006-07 slate kicks off with the USBC Masters, beginning today and running through Saturday, Oct. 28. The finals will be held at the Wisconsin Exposition Center in Milwaukee, Wis. One note about this tournament and the upcoming season is that Kelly Kulick, who made history as the first woman to qualify for a full-season exemption on the Denny’s PBA Tour, will be participating.

I don’t know if any of you had picked up on this story in the summer but Kulick qualified for the tour after finishing sixth at the Denny’s PBA Tour trials in June.

She has been the subject of widespread media attention. She has appeared on “Good Morning America,” CNN, “World News Tonight,” and has been featured in numerous well-known newspapers across the U.S. It is an exciting story for the 29-year-old Union, N.J. resident, who was a promising bowler on the Professional Women’s Bowling Association. That was until the PWBA folded in 2003.

Now she is looking to make a living on the PBA Tour. Good luck to Kelly in this first event, which is the most prestigious event on Tour and is one of the majors in the Tour season.
