Uniontown shuts out AG in girls soccer action Uniontown got two goals and two assists from Devan Grot, while Sarah Markward added three goals and an assist as the Lady Red Raiders beat Albert Gallatin, 7-0 in girls soccer action Wednesday.
Uniontown goalie Jordan Merschat had five saves in the shutout that lifted Uniontown to 1-0 in Section 6-AAA. Albert Gallatin fell to 0-1.
Connellsville 10, Yough 0 – Paige Puskar poured in three goals and dished out two assists to lead the Lady Falcons to a shutout win over Yough in Section 6-AAA.
Tara Hixson had two goals and Kylee Heck had a goal and two assists, as Connellsville (3-0) emptied its bench. Three goalies had a save each, as Connellsville out-shot Yough, 29-3. It was the section opener for both teams.
Girls Volleyball
Connellsville 3, Southmoreland 0 – Megan Saylor had 31 assists, Justine Matthews added 12 kills and Brandee Leighty recorded four aces among 12 service points, as Connellsville (1-1) beat Southmoreland (0-2) by scores of 25-12, 25-14 and 25-16.
South Fayette 3, Waynesburg Central 0 – The visiting Raiders found the going tough, being swept in a Section 4-AA match. South Fayette won by scores of 25-13, 25-7 and 25-11.
Brownsville 3, Carmichaels 0 – The host Lady Falcons swept past the Lady Mikes in non-section action. Brownsville (3-1) won by scores of 25-17, 25-10 and 25-19.
Albert Gallatin 3, West Greene 2 – The Lady Colonials won by scores of 25-14, 21-25, 23-25, 25-10 and 15-11.
Boys golf
Frazier 232, Monessen 247 – Marcus Wingrove shot 42 and Mike Onuska followed with a 44 as Frazier improved to 6-2 overall and 4-1 in Division II Section 2 boys golf by beating Monessen at Cedarbrook.
Monessen fell to 0-5 in section matches.
Jefferson-Morgan 209, Washington 258 – Matt Kokoska’s 39 was low score and the rest of the Rockets’ team shot lower than the second best Washington golfer in this exhibition win that kept the Rockets unbeaten at 6-0. Washington fell to 0-6.
Trinity 197, Belle Vernon 200 – Tyber Lustig was medalist with a 36, but Trinity beat the Leopards in exhibition action at Rolling Green. The winners improved to 1-6 overall, while Belle Vernon fell to 2-6.
Girls golf
Mount Pleasant 190, Penn-Trafford 214 – Nicole Smith shot 43 to lead Mount Pleasant to this Section 1 win over Penn-Trafford at Norvelt. Mount Pleasant is 4-0.
