Singh tops field for 84 Lumber Classic
Three of the top 10 players on the PGA Tour money list have committed to next week’s 84 Lumber Classic. Vijay Singh, who captured the 84 Lumber Classic two years ago on his way to Player of the Year honors, is ranked No. 4 in the world and is currently fifth on the Tour money list with $4,073,070.
Singh has 11 top-10 finishes this year, including a June victory in the Barclays Classic.
After a rough March and April, Trevor Immelman has made the cut in his last 10 tournaments. Immelman had back-to-back second-place finishes in the Wachovia Championship and the Byron Nelson in early May, then won the Western Open in early July.
Immelman is No. 7 on the money list with earnings of $3,160,246.
David Toms, who collapsed last year during the first round because of a rapid heart rate and was transported to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, is back. He is ninth on the money list at $2.711, 394.
Along with Singh, Immelman and Toms, six other players in the top-30 on the money list will be present, as will fan favorite John Daly, defending champion Jason Gore and teenage sensation Michelle Wie, who will play on a sponsors exemption.
