Commodores stampede TD Club race

By The 1 min read

The Frazier football team made a quantum leap up the Herald-Standard Touchdown Club rankings with Friday’s 67-14 win over Geibel Catholic. The Commodores’ scoring explosion landed three players among the top six scorers in the Herald-Standard coverage area through two weeks of the season.

Senior Jim Traynor had a 20-point evening to grab a share of the scoring lead with Beth-Center’s Ryan Butka and Chris Stay. Traynor scored in four different fashions, catching a touchdown pass, returning an interception and a fumble for touchdowns and adding a two-point conversion.

Senior Vince Conti also scored three touchdowns for 18 points and a share of fourth place with teammate Joe Kulikoski and California’s Donte Valentino.

Conti scored on a pair of touchdown runs and on a 90-yard kickoff return.

Kulikoski scored one TD against the Gators (his third of the season), but also had a pair of TD passes and threw Traynor’s conversion pass.

Only points scored are counted in this competition.

Valentino, a junior who finished second in this race last season, scored three touchdowns to get to within two points of the leaders.

Next in line, with 14 points each, are Frazier senior Adam Shimko and Geibel Catholic sophomore Mick Betler.
