Mikluscak leads Fillies past Lady Raiders Kayla Mikluscak scored four goals and assisted on the fifth as Laurel Highlands beat Uniontown, 5-1 in Section 6-AAA girls soccer action Wednesday night.

Kelsey Workman scored LH’s first goal on an assist from Mikluscak at 29:48 before Mikluscak got loose and scored the last four LH goals. Her first came at 29:29 on the first of two Morgan Palya assists to make it 2-0 at the half.

Workman assisted on Mikluscak’s second goal, at 37:00, Palya assisted on her third at 21:24.

Sara Martwardt scored Uniontown’s lone goal with 44 seconds remaining.

The Fillies improved to 3-6-1 overall, 2-4-1 in section games, while Uniontown fell to 3-5.

Connellsville 6, Albert Gallatin 0 – Six different players scored for Connellsville in a game that helped lift the Lady Falcons into a three-way tie for second place in Section 6-AAA.

Stephanie Bell lifted the lid at 38:27, while the Lady Falcons added four more first-half goals, one each from Paige Puskar (28:48), Kylee Heck (19:28), Liz Bell (12:41) and Tara Hixson (1:37), before Laci Rosensteel scored the last goal with 2:25 remaining.

The win leaves Connellsville at 7-2 overall, 5-2 in section games and tied for second with Waynesburg Central and Elizabeth-Forward. Belle Vernon leads the section.

Waynesburg Central 3, Elizabeth-Forward 2 – Melody Cox scored a goal and had two assists to lead the Lady Raiders past the Lady Warriors in Section 6-AAA action.

Cox assisted on the game-winning goal by Taylor Autustine in the 34th minute of the second half. Cox also scored to tie it, 2-2, on an assist from Carly Loughman and assisted on Ashley Phillips’ goal that opened the scoring.

Both teams came out of the match with identical records of 6-2 overall, 5-2 in section.

Volleyball

Geibel Catholic 3, Mapletown 0 – Samantha Hawk had 16 service points, including 10 consecutive in the first game, and Amy Staffieri added seven to lead the Gators over the Maples.

The 25-6, 25-6, 25-12 win leaves Geibel Catholic undefeated (5-0) at the expense of (0-5) Mapletown.

Caroline Renne led Geibel Catholic with six kills, while Courtney Stankiewicz added three. Chelsey Kreinbrook had five assists. Geibel Catholic hosts Beth-Center in an exhibition match Monday.

Boys golf

Uniontown 192, Waynesburg Central 197 – Rachael Rohanna shot a 35 to win medallist, but Uniontown had four golfers shoot in the 30s for this exhibition golf win over Waynesburg Central Wednesday at Rohanna’s Golf Course.

Allen Zieglar led Uniontown with a 36, Josh Miller followed at 37, Seth Rockwell 38 and Cory Over 39. David Bobish and Mike Rogers capped Uniontown’s win with 42s.

Zach Schloemer shot 38 for Waynesburg Central, Joe Moore a 40, Matt Fox 41 and Taylor Moore 43.

The Red Raiders improved to 11-2 overall, while the Raiders fell to 6-7.

Chartiers-Houston 207, Jefferson-Morgan 210 – Matt Kokoska and Dylan Blosser shot twin 41s for the Rockets, but Chartiers-Houston’s John Popeck and Derik McIlvain shot twin 39s and Mark Jones had a 40 to help the Buccaneers hand Jefferson-Morgan its first golf loss of the season.

Zack Basinger (42), Justin Hughes (43) and Brian Scritchfield (43) scored for J-M, while Ryan Scott had a 42, Coty Patnesky a 47 for C-H, which improved to 10-3 with this exhibition win. The Rockets are 12-1, but remain perfect (7-0) in Division II, Section 8.

Greensburg CC 218, Frazier 219 – The Commodores came as close as a team can come to handing the Centurions their first Division II, Section 8 boys golf loss.

But GCC stayed perfect at 8-0, while Frazier fell to 5-3 with this one-stroke loss at Linden Hall.

GCC’s Zach Metcalfe was medallist with a 40. He was followed by Mike Senuta’s 41, Dan Unkovic’s 44, Jim Henler’s 46 and Nico Cortese’s 47.

Frazier for a 41 from Matt Onuska, 43 from Marcus Wingrove, a 44 from John Shandor, a 45 from Corey Martini and a 46 from Brian Null.

Girls golf

Mount Pleasant 201, Franklin Regional 222 – Nicole Smith’s 44 and Allison Homulka’s 45 paced the Lady Vikes to this Section 1 win that lifted Mount Pleasant to 8-1 overall and 7-0 in section matches. Franklin fell to 4-3.

Courtney Shields carded a 53 and Calissa Jesso a 59 for Mount Pleasant, while the Lady Panthers got a 51 from Jordan Agate, a 56 from Liz Stanley, a 57 from Erica Grasinger and a 58 from Angie DePaolis.

Girls tennis

Connellsville 5, Indiana 0 – The Lady Falcons improved to 8-3 overall and 4-3 in Section 1-AAA action with this shutout win.

Laura Husband (6-2, 6-2), Megan Pastors (6-1, 6-3) and Amy Lucas (6-3, 6-2) won singles matches in straight sets, as did doubles teams Emily Stout and Lauren Riblack (6-3, 6-2) and Megan Jacobs and Kristine Herman (6-4, 7-5). Indiana fell to 1-6.

Mount Pleasant 5, Brownsville 0 – The Lady Vikes improved to 7-1 overall and 4-1 in Section 1-AA action by blanking the Lady Falcons.

Singles winners were Leisha Durstine (6-2, 7-6, 7-1 over Nicole Kerstine), Rebecca Cenkner (6-3, 6-0 over Becky Barnhart) and Trisha Suconic (6-0, 7-5 over Ambewr Fabian).

In doubles, it was Tara Kraisinger and Danielle Ferree over Beth Seelye and Amanda Smith, 6-0, 6-2, and Stephanie Sleva and Jessica McKetta over Samantha Bochna and Erin Ryan, 5-7, 6-2 and 7-4.

Brownsville fell to 1-6 overall, 1-4 in section matches.
