Dippolito steps down as Gators’ football coach

By The 1 min read

Calling it, “the toughest decision I’ve ever made in my life,” Geibel Catholic football coach Angelo Dippolito resigned knowing he made the right decision. He cited health issues as the reason he is stepping aside, noting that he has a few surgical procedures in his immediate future.

“Geibel Catholic has become my family,” Dippolito said. “I can’t say a bad thing about any of the kids I’ve had the pleasure of dealing with. For the sake of the school, we have to find the right guy to take over this program.”

Dippolito will stay on as assistant athletic director and be a part of the search committee formed to find a new football coach.

“Every coach in every sport wants to win and we want to bring someone in who can win, but this job is special. You have to have a love of the kids, too,” Dippolito said. “There is a future for football here and it’s up to us to bring in the right person to make it happen.”

Applications are being accepted at the school.
