Norwin tops Lady Raiders Even though the Uniontown girls basketball squad will not be participating in the post-season, they gave Section 1-AAAA second-place team Penn-Trafford a run for its money Monday. The Lady Red Raiders fell short 49-44.
Ashley Maljain led the Lady Knights with 20 points and teammate Leslie Zalando added 12.
Lawren Davis paced Uniontown with 15 points, including a 5-of-6 showing from the foul line.
Sherika Brown added 10 points.
The Lady Red Raiders (9-12, 4-9) look to snap a two-game losing skid Thursday at home against Kiski Area.
Norwin 78, Albert Gallatin 43 – Kayla Hilko poured in a game-high 32 points, including 6-of-8 from the foul line as Norwin upended host Albert Gallatin in a Section 1-AAAA contest.
Teammate Jennifer Laver tossed in 16 points.
Jessica Lint paced Albert Gallatin with 18 points, including four three-pointers, while senior guard Marquis Demniak added 15 points, including three from beyond the three-point stripe.
Norwin scored on 32 points, and shot 10-of-17 from the foul line, while the Lady Colonials scored on 15 field goals and were 6-for-11 from the charity stripe.
Albert Gallatin (1-12, 2-21) looks to put one in the win column Thursday on the road against Connellsville.
