Seeding favors Waynesburg wrestlers in Section 4 tournament

By The 1 min read

If the seeding holds true to form today in the Section 4-AAA tournament at Waynesburg Central, the host squad would send at least eight wrestlers to next week’s WPIAL Class AAA Individual Wrestling Championships at Norwin High School. Since the top four finishers in each section advance to the district tournament, the eight Raiders who have been seeded fourth or better are looking to give Waynesburg a strong showing.

Matt Headlee (20-12) is the top seed at 119 pounds, and is joined at No. 1 by Nick Garber (32-5) at 130, Scott Throckmorton (24-6) at 145, Ethan Headlee (35-3) at 152, and Robert Gregg (21-11) at 285.

Vince Camps earned a No. 2 seed in the section at 135 pounds with an overall record of 15-16, as did Clint Podish at 171 with an overall mark of 36-4.

The Raiders’ Brian Knapp is a No. 3 seed at 125 with an overall record of 25-8.

Jon Remsing (103, 14-17), Chris Remsing (112, 7-11), Derek Calvert (140, 7-1), and Keith Higginbotham (215, 16-9) need to wrestle into the main draw for the opportunity to gain one of the four berths.
