Strikes and spares
Big Brothers Big Sisters benefit events coming up I wanted to start off this week by letting everyone know about an event coming to this area. It is the Bowl for Kids’ Sake 2007.
This event, which benefits the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Laurel Region that serves Fayette and Westmoreland counties, is being held at two local establishments.
Sunday, March 18 you can bowl for this cause at Yough Lanes in Connellsville at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., and on Sunday, April 1 you can bowl for this cause at Hillview Lanes in Greensburg at 10:00 am, 12 noon and 2 p.m.
Participants can enjoy the bowling, food, beverages, games, prizes and music.
There are many ways to help the effort. You may donate, form a team, join a team or participate as an individual bowler.
For more information, you can visit the following website for more information: www.bbbslr.org/bfks.htm. You can also call the following numbers: Greensburg – 724-837-6198 and Uniontown – 724-439-8055.
There are limited lanes available. If anyone has the time, this is a great time to support a worthy cause.

This season the Denny’s PBA Tour has seen a few multiple winners.
Bowlers that have won two events each so far this season include: Norm Duke, who won the Lake County Indiana Classic and the Columbia 300 Classic; Sean Rash, who won the Beltway Classic and the Earl Anthony Medford Classic; Patrick Allen, who won the H & R Block Classic and last week’s Go RVing Classic; and finally, Jason Couch, who won back-to-back events with the Dick Weber Open and the Motel 6 Classic.
This week’s Denny’s PBA Tour event is in Parkersburg, W.Va. The Bayer Classic at Emerson Lanes will be the site of the TV final on Sunday.
The final four who will be going for the title include: Mike Mineman, who is looking to become only the second non-exempt bowler on the Denny’s PBA Tour to win a title; Dale Traber; Mike Machuga; and the PBA Tour’s all-time titles leader, Walter Ray Williams Jr.
