Lady Rockets roll past California Jefferson-Morgan built some momentum as the Lady Rockets head into Thursday’s Section 2-A showdown with first-place Geibel Catholic with a 57-32 victory at California Monday to close the first half of the section schedule.
The Lady Rockets improve to 4-1 in the section and 10-7 overall. Jefferson-Morgan lost to the Lady Gators in the first meeting at home, 74-42. California falls to 0-5 in the section and 0-17 overall.
A trio of Lady Rockets were in double figures, led by Rachel Weaver’s 16 points. Ashley Phillips made a pair of 3-pointers to finish with 14 points while Maddie Snyder went 7-of-12 from the foul line to score 13.
Morgan Moluski scored a game-high 17 points for the Lady Trojans.
Waynesburg Central 45, West Greene 40, OT – The Lady Raiders needed an extra five minutes, but the overtime was worth the effort for their first win of the season. The teams were tied at 37 at the end of regulation.
Waynesburg Central is now 1-18 with another non-section game Wednesday with Carmichaels. West Greene goes to 1-16 overall.
Miatta Toothman scored a game-high 20 points for the Lady Raiders. Kaylie Barger was also in double figures with 11.
West Greene’s Angela Devenney had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Chelsey Jones scored 12 points while Samantha Milliken pulled down 10 rebounds.
Beth-Center 59, Burgettstown 21 – The Lady Bulldogs scored almost all the points they needed in the first eight minutes, building an 18-4 lead after the first quarter to cruise to an easy Section 5-AA home victory.
The lead grew to 20 points at the half and 27 after three quarters.
Megan Sowers led Beth-Center (4-4, 10-8) with 18 points. Burgettstown falls to 1-7 in the section and 4-14 overall.
Latrobe 73, Connellsville 59 – A quartet of Lady Falcons scored in double figures, but it wasn’t enough to win a Section 1-AAAA game on the road. Connellsville falls to 1-8 in the section and 3-15 overall while the Lady Wildcats improve to 9-0 in the section and 13-4 overall.
Megan Saylor hit four 3-pointers to scored a team-high 16 points for Connellsville. Erica Bartholow went 6-of-6 from the foul line to finish with 12 points. Erica Brooks and Elise Michaux both added 10.
Emily Muchnok scored a game-high 21 points for Latrobe. Courtney Sherwin finished with 17 and Emily Fenton added 15.
Mapletown 82, Chartiers-Houston 53 – Five Lady Maples were in double figures as Mapletown scored an easy non-section victory at Chartiers-Houston.
Mapletown improves to 10-6 overall while the Lady Bucs fall to 3-16.
Erika Chory and Bethany Ross shared scoring honors for Mapletown with 17 points each. Brittany Buckhalter had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Kaitlyn Novak and Kayla Stevulak both scored 10 points with Novak adding seven steals.
Katie Rosemeier scored a game-high 21 points for Chartiers-Houston. Alyssa Loutsion added 12.
