Holt hot as Carmichaels whips Phil’s Eric Holt knocked in five runs with four hits as Carmichaels pummeled host Phil’s Tire, 18-4, in Fayette County Baseball League action on Tuesday.

Holt’s two-run, two-out single in the first inning opened the game’s scoring and Ron Nopwasky followed with a two-run double as manager Dickie Krause’s Copperheads jumped out to a 5-0 lead in its first at bat.

Phil’s Tire scored one run in each of the first three innings against winning pitcher Dan Burkintas, but couldn’t keep up with Carmichaels’ offense as the Copperheads added four runs in the second, one in the third, four more in the fourth and three in the fifth to open up a 17-3 advantage.

Burkintas allowed the three runs in five innings with three walks and three strikeouts. Holt finished up on the mound, allowing one unearned run in two frames with two walks and a strikeout.

Losing pitcher Craig Conforti was lifted after the five-run opening frame.

Gene Franks had two hits, including a solo home run, for Carmichaels (12-8-2), which pounded out 19 hits.

Chuck Gasti, Jeff Thompson and Nopwasky each ripped a double and a single, Nick Hegedus also had two hits, Shane Eckels blasted a triple, and Ryan Group and Brian Muransky each chipped in with a double for the Copperheads.

Dan Consuergra collected three hits for Phil’s Tire (9-11). Ken Musko doubled and singled, Ryan Shetterly also had two hits, and Joe Breiter doubled for the hosts, who totaled 11 hits.

Carmichaels hosts rival Bud Murphy’s today at 6 p.m.

Mill Run 12, Potter’s Clubhouse 3 – Dave Sumner smacked four hits and drove in three runs as Mill Run defeated visiting Potter’s Clubhouse in a five-inning game.

Justin Coffman knocked in a pair of runs with two hits, and Jim Warrick also had two hits to help Mill Run (18-7) maintain its perch atop the Jim Kriek Division standings. Mill Run rang up 14 hits, all of which were singles.

Scott Fraley had two hits for Potter’s, which also is in the Jim Kriek Division. Despite being away, Potter’s played as the home team because it’s home field was not available.

Mill Run scored three in the first, but Potter’s came back with two in the bottom of the frame. Mill Run pulled away, though, with four in the third and four more in the fourth when it knocked out losing pitcher Dave Novotney in taking an 11-2 lead.

Winning pitcher Travis Henry allowed six hits and two walks with five strikeouts in tossing a complete game.

Mill Run is back in action today when it hosts Blaney Farms at 6 p.m.
