Rohanna, Knapp 2nd at Fuhrer
Waynesburg’s Robert Rohanna and Sean Knapp shared the lead of the 23rd Frank B. Fuhrer Invitational after 36 holes, but both slipped to second place after Tuesday’s third round at Valley Brook Country Club in McMurray. The tournament, part of the PGA of America Tri-State Section schedule, has a purse of $125,000.
Rohanna, a senior at Penn State University, and Knapp both shot even-par 72 to finish with a three-round total of 3-under 213.
Fox Chapel Golf Club’s Jason Martin and Totteridge Golf Club’s Ryan Sikora, a Yough grad, share the lead heading into today’s final round with 5-under 211.
The co-leaders, both amateurs, at the midway point, Rohanna shot rounds of 68 and 73 in Monday’s first day of competition for a 3-under 141, while Knapp had rounds of 70 and 71 for his 3-under score.
Rohanna’s rounds come on the heels of his strong performance in last week’s U.S. Public Links Championship where he advanced to the match play quarterfinals before losing to eventual champion Colt Knost.
Wheeling Country Club’s Tomas Lindh is alone in fifth place with a three-round total of 215, while Roy Vucinich and Richard von Tacky are a shot behind at 216.
