Baseball Camp at Eberly Campus
The second annual Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus, summer baseball camp will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday, June 18-22, at the campus.
The Roaring Lions coaching staff will conduct the camp. Ray Smitley is head coach and his assistants include John Curtis, Brent Watson and Art Lint. Laurel Highlands baseball coach Tom Landman also will assist in the camp.

Cal Legion in business
Despite talk to the contrary, the California Fayette American Legion baseball team has not folded and is still looking to field a team for this summer’s schedule. Romaine Howell has left the door open for all interested players in the California, Beth-Center, Bentworth and Albert Gallatin school districts to contact him in the next couple days about playing this season.

Soccer
Cal names Alvine coach
Al Alvine has been named as the head coach of the California University of Pa. women’s soccer coach. The 1992 graduate of Robert Morris University replaces Nicole Bartkus, and brings a 57-35-7 career record in five years of coaching.
The Vulcans finished 7-11-1 overall and 3-6-1 for fifth place in the PSAC West last season.
Golf
Ruby ties for 7th
Uniontown’s Joe Ruby finished tied for seventh Tuesday at the 76th WPGA Senior Amateur Championship played at Willowbrook Country Club. Ruby finished with a two-round total of 12-over-par (79-77) on the par-72 course.
DuBois’ Don Erickson II won the title with a 4-over 148.
