Steelers re-sign Carter
PITTSBURGH (AP) – Free agent safety Tyrone Carter stayed with the Pittsburgh Steelers by signing a three-year contract on Monday. A seven-year veteran, Carter played in all 16 games in 2006, starting three. He finished with 42 tackles – the most in his three seasons with the Steelers – as well as two sacks and two forced fumbles.
The Minnesota Vikings drafted Carter in the fourth round of the 2000 draft. He spent two seasons with the Vikings and one year with the New York Jets before signing with Pittsburgh as a free agent in October 2004.
In his career, Carter has played in 103 games, starting 34.
He has 285 tackles with four sacks and four interceptions in seven seasons.
Carter’s agent, Jack Behta, did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment.
